Epson EH-TW5500 Projector Review
The Epson EH-TW5500 is not even released yet, but it is already gaining in popularity. This model features 1600 ANSI lumens, full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, and a 200000:1 contrast ratio. Recently, a writer from Trusted Reviews got the opportunity to test the TW5500 before it hits shelves in November. The writers were impressed right from the start with the matt black body that doesn’t reflect any light, which helps prevent distractions. The connection panel was very easy to read and allowed for a quick and simple setup. The writers also enjoyed all the features and specs that the projector lived up to. However their favorite specification was the 200000:1 contrast ratio. No other projector has claimed to have a contrast this high before, which gives doubt that it can actually perform that well. However, Epson integrated into this projector a new dual-layer, notched iris, which allows the projector to deliver pronounced shifts in image brightness. One of the problems that Epson fixed with this projector was the motion sensing and judder problems. In rapidly fast movement scenes, predecessors would typically have these problems and not be able to keep up with the display. However, the TW5500 is perfectly able to keep up and display clear crisp images in even the most difficult movement scenes. The final verdict that the writer made was,’ With so many projectors vying for your attention in the coming months, it’s inevitable that there will be winners and losers along the way. But by pretty much rewriting the LCD projection rule book for the second time in three months, it’s hard to imagine Epson ending up anywhere near the losers camp with the EH-TW5500. Especially since its arrival slightly ahead of its rivals has set the bar so dizzyingly high.’
