Hitahci Unveils CP-A200 Projector

Hitachi is proud to unveil their latest short throw projector, the CP-A200. This model has already been released in Japan as the CP-A200J but is finally making its way to the USA. The CP-A200 features 3000 ANSI lumens, XGA (1024 x 768) resolution and the ability to project a 60 inch display from only 18.5 inches from the screen. The projector achieves the short throw distance by using a mirror that the projector shines on. The mirror not only reflects the image, but helps increase the size as it hits the screen. The mirror also helps with the projector’s positioning. The A200’s main features are its security systems, which include a PIN lock, a security bar, and a Kensington slot. Other features include Perfect Fit 2 technology, a Template Function, and easy maintenance access. ‘Hitachi continues to lead the way in the ultra-short-throw category of projectors,’ says John Glad, product manager, Hitachi America, Ltd., Digital Media Division, Business Solutions Group. ‘Our latest addition to the series, the CP-A200, offers the most brightness of any of our ultra-short-throw projectors and features improved Perfect Fit and a 2,000-hour hybrid filter.’ The CP-A200 will be available soon, but the company did not release the retail price at this time.

Optoma EW330 Projector Review

One of Optoma’s micro projectors is the EW330. This device features 2200 ANSI lumens, a 2000:1 contrast ratio, and WXGA (1280 x 800) resolution. Today, the writers from My Laptop released their review of this projector. The first thing they commented about was the sixe. The EW330 weighs only 2.6 lbs and measures 8.1’ x 2.5’ x 6.1’ (W x H x D). The small size makes it idea for people who need to travel a lot or a company who wants to use one projector for several different rooms. Other compliments include the projector’s high brightness and contrast ratio. This allows the display to be seen in almost normal room light settings, but of course darker is always better. The only aspect that the writers didn’t like was the 16:10 aspect ratio. While this is good for many laptops, it isn’t a true widescreen, which come with a 16:9 aspect ratio. The final verdict that they made was, ‘The Optoma EW330 delivers a stunning image from what is a remarkably compact and portable projector. Sure, it’s designed for life on the move but with a price of around £799 (inc. VAT), it’s certainly worth considering for smaller homes.’

Acer S5200 Projector Review

One of the many data projectors to come from Acer is the S5200. This model features 3000 ANSI lumens and a 2500:1 contrast ratio, but only comes with a XGA (1024 x 768) resolution. Today, a writer from IT Reviews got to publish their experience with this projector. The main feature that the writer liked was the short throw lens. This allows the projector to display up to a 300 inch display from only 12 feet away. This makes it ideal for educational uses. The image quality was noted to be good for a XGA resolution. The writer also thought the color was rich and vibrant. Other features that the writer was impressed with were the included HDMI port for 1080p streaming and its 3D compatibility. However they did notice that the on-screen menu did not provide a lot of information about how to use the 3D features. The final verdict was, ‘The S5200 is ideal for classroom use, either for still or video display. Its ultra short-throw makes it particularly easy for a teacher to combine projection with presentation from the front of class and the projector is bright enough for use in a normally lit room. Whether 3D will be a major part of its remit is less certain, as the cost and maintenance of 30+ sets of specs and the current lack of 3D educational content may hold it back.’

Aiptek’s PocketCinema Z20 Is A Camcorder And Projector In One (video)

aiptekprojector z20

The Aiptek’s Pocket Cinema Z20 is a all in one camera and projector allowing you to take pictures and then project them on to walls and screens.

With the ability to project 65 inches it can be ideal for presentations and fun with friends and family. Not only does it allow you to take pictures, but also videos. It has 2GB of built-in memory for up to 1 hour of HD videos and any any photos can of course be transferred to your computer or connected to a TV via HDMI or VGA outputs.

Usability wise as it has as touch sensitive backlit keypad and small LCD screen for framing photos. The device is quite small and light, and can be operated from a remote. It’s a bit difficult to tell how solid picture quality will be, but at 5 megapixels it can produce 720p videos.

There’s no word on a launch date in the US, but the Z20 is expected to hit Europe mid April for about $476.

Optoma HD20 Projector Review

One of Optoma’s best home theater projectors is the HD20. This model comes with 1700 ANSI lumens, a 4000:1 contrast ratio, and full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution. Recently, the writers from Audioholics released their review of the HD20. The first thing they talk about is the setup, which was pretty straight forward. The connection panel is simple and well labeled. The best feature though was the price tag. The HD20 is one of the few projectors to retail for under $1000 and have 1080p resolution. The writers were not happy with that the lamp system had a lot of leakage. They saw a lot more than normal. However, they also noticed that the projector’s vents were designed to keep that light from ruining the picture. They also noticed that the remote control’s backlight was annoyingly bright. While having a backlit remote is usually a good thing, the writers noted that they had to let their eyes readjust after looking at it. However even with these problems the writers’ conclusion was, ‘We can’t stress enough that the price of this 1080p projector is just amazing. For under a grand you have the ability to get a great big picture for less than the price of a flatscreen at one quarter the size. While it isn’t the only sub-$1k projector on the block, the cheaper bulb replacement may win out over the quieter Vivitek H1080FD. For us, we’re just happy to see this price point reached. With a white wall, you’re only out the price of the projector and the cost of a DIY shelf. On the ‘high’ end, you could get a motorized screen and a mount for less than a $1700 total investment. With 46″ LED LCDs going for more than that (on sale no less), it isn’t hard to see the value. As projector prices come down, we can’t wait until the public starts to catch on. Then we can all enjoy what we once paid $10 a ticket and $30 in popcorn and drinks PER flick to enjoy - the movie theater experience at home.’
