BenQ W6000 Projector Review

The BenQ W6000 was one of the many projectors the company recently released. This home theater model features 2500 ANSI lumens, full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, and a 50000:1 contrast ratio. Recently, the writers from Trusted Reviews got their hands on this device to review. As always the reviewers first look at the projector’s design and they admit that it is a little bigger than they are used to. However the glossy black finish adds a classy touch that they liked. Their only concern about the design was that the front cooling vent allowed a lot of light to escape the machine which could become a distraction to some. After a quick setup the writers noticed that the menu and on-screen adjustment features are very user friendly. But even though the menu is very ‘cuddly’ the truth is that the W6000 is a serious home theater projector. The image is very bright and the images displayed are superbly intense and vibrant. The extra high contrast ratio also contributes to the impressive display. There were only two major concerns that the writer had about the projector’s performance. The first is that the projector does have a slight rainbow effect that most DLP projectors have. Fortunately though, this is only noticeable during extreme light and dark contrasts like rolling credits. The other major concern involves the projector’s motion handling. During really fast action scenes the image can get a bit blurred. However even with these problems, the writer concludes by saying, ‘With the W6000, BenQ has conjured up a bold, brash, dynamic projector that outshines most, if not all, rivals in its price bracket when it comes to brightness and color. While this gives the W6000 immediate ’shelf appeal’, though, and may help it gain an immediate advantage in any head-to-head shoot-outs, the longer you live with it, the more clumsy some aspects of its implementation start to appear. Especially if you can’t build the thing into a soundproof box!’
