Samsung Releases SP-F10M Projector in UK

Back in May, Samsung announced their SP-F10M projector in the UK. Today, the company is proud to announce that this model is now available for shipping. The company claims that the F10M is the world’s first RGB LED projector to display 1000 ANSI lumens. Other features include a 2000:1 contrast ratio, and XGA (1024 x 768) resolution. The RGB LED lamp system uses red, green, and blue LED lights in order to display images. There are brighter LED projectors currently out on the market, but they use white light lamps for their systems. Samsung has included a wide array of connections, including an HDMI, RGB, USB, DVI, s-video, composite, and several audio ports as well. The retail price for the F10M has not been released yet.

Today, Trusted Reviews released their experience with the HD550. This projector is an entry-level model, which means that it is designed with first time projector owners in mind. The writer who reviewed the HD550 is no stranger to projectors, but they were happy to see how simple the setup was. One highlight included the connection panel with dual HDMI ports. One thing that the writer noticed was that the HD550 does not have the THX certification that it’s bigger brother projector has. The main reason is because there isn’t any color tuning features. While this is fine for an entry level projector it still makes tweaking the image annoying. Other than that, the writer didn’t have any other problems with the HD550. The key element that was highlighted at the end was the 19 dB noise level. This makes the HD550 one of the quietest projectors the writer has ever seen. The final verdict was, ‘JVC’s D-ILA technology has done it again. As with almost every D-ILA Wire Grid projector before it, the HD550 sets new standards for its money. There’s still room for improvement, with JVC stubbornly refusing to give its entry-level models a couple of key features (a PC input and a color management system) that would make them pretty much perfect for their money. But even so, if there’s a better way to spend £3k right now, we’re struggling to think of it!’

The latest pico projector to come from Optoma is the PK301. Today, the company announced that this projector is now available in the UK. The PK301 features 50 ANSI lumens, a 2000:1 contrast ratio, and WVGA (854 x 480) resolution. Unlike all of its predecessors, this is the first Optoma pico projector to have the lens on the side like a miniature traditional projector. The projector uses DLP display technology and LED lamps that can last for up to 20000 hours. The more impressive features include a 28MB internal memory and the ability to project images measuring 120’, diagonally. The PK301 is available now for £349 ($526). However, in the USA, the projector retails for $400.

BenQ Releases W1000 and W600 Projectors in India

BenQ has announced today that two new projectors are now available in India. The W1000 and W600 have already been released in other countries and now come to India. These models are the company’s latest home theater projectors and both come DLP display technology and a 3000:1 contrast ratio. The W600 is the smaller of the two with 2600 ANSI lumens and HD (1280 x 720) resolution. The W1000 only has 2000 ANSI lumens, but can display full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution. Both projectors share the same connection panel, which comes with dual HDMI ports, a RGB, composite, s-video, component and several audio ports. The projectors can also project up to a 300’ display. The W600 and W1000 are available now through certified retailers. The prices have been set at Rs 52800 ($1115) and Rs 95700 ($2022), respectively.

Today, the writers from CNET gave their review of the H1085FD. One of the aspects that they make clear is that this projector is incredibly cheap compared to other home theater projectors. They also state that for its price they honestly expected a lower quality performance. However they were able to enjoy the image quality and they liked how easy it was to control. Because the projector uses DLP technology, they were able to notice a rainbow effect. They also thought that the motion suffered from judder and did not always create a smooth scene. But even with these problems, the writers stated, ‘If you only cough up £990 for a projector, you’ll clearly have to accept a compromise or two. But the Vivitek H1085 will force fewer compromises on you than you might expect, making it a surprisingly enjoyable option for casual users on a budget.’

The Epson EH-TW2900 projector has been out for a while, but it still is one of the company’s leading projectors. It comes with an 18000:1 contrast ratio, full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, and 1600 ANSI lumens. The writers from CNET got the opportunity to review the projector and they thought that the image quality was ultimately the best part of the projector. The image quality was clean and bright. The action scenes were clear and crisp and the projector was even bright enough to be used in ambient light conditions. One concern the writers did have with the projector was its size and weight. This makes the projector difficult to mount and hard to conceal. However even with this problem, the writer concluded by stating, ‘While Epson’s main focus this year seems to be on the higher end, higher-price section of the projection market, its mid-range TW2900 actually turns out to be a really quite exceptional bargain, delivering far more features and football-friendly quality than you’ve any right to expect for a mere £1,200.’
