The Sony VPL-VW85 is one of the company’s latest home theater projectors. This model feature full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, 800 ANSI lumens, and a 120000:1 contrast ratio. Today, Trusted Reviews released their review of this impressive machine. One of the first things, the writer noticed was the exceptional price hike on the VW85. Part of the reason is because the VW85 uses the latest in 3SXRD display panels. SXRD is Sony’s patented version of the LCoS display technology but feature a thinner panel, which also doubles the chips’ speed. The projector is virtually ready to go as soon as it is taken from the box. The writers did decide to fine tune the display a little but fortunately the menu was easy and provided all the adjustment settings they needed. The writers were very impressed with the projector’s performance, especially with the sharpness, which has been known to be Sony’s strength. The only concern is some of the preset settings that are suppose to help smooth the picture and make it easier to watch. However, these settings don’t need to be on and the image can still be enjoyable. The final verdict the writer made was, ‘As well as succeeding where its predecessor did not in justifying its price hike over Sony’s latest entry-level SXRD model, the VW85 sets a really high new standard for the £5,000 sector of the projector market. Will JVC’s new D-ILA models manage to be even better? Well, sadly I just don’t know right now. But man, it’s going to be fun finding out…’

ViewSonic PJD6381 Projector Review

The ViewSonic PJD6381 is one of their latest projectors. This model features XGA (1024 x 768) resolution, 2500 ANSI lumens, and a 2400:1 contrast ratio. Recently, the writers from PC World got the opportunity to review this projector to see how good it is. One of the major features is that the projector offers 3D capabilities and is also compatible with the NVIDIA GeForce 3D system. The only problem is that it requires the user to go out and purchase the extra equipment. The projector is designed mainly for business applications and doesn’t have any digital inputs like DVI-I or HDMI. The writers would have liked to see these inputs. Other aspects that the writer liked included the brightness, color, and the short throw distance. However, the main problem that the writers also noticed was the loud cooling fan. The writers found it very distracting at time, which is not good when a presenter wants all the attention on them.

Hitachi Releases CP-D10 Projector in Australia

Hitachi is releasing a new projector into Australia, the CP-D10. This projector features 2000 ANSI lumens, 400:1 contrast ratio, and a native XGA (1024 x 768) resolution. The main feature about the D10 is the new free-shaped plastic lens that helps reduce shadowing and eye glare. The lens is also a short throw lens that allows the projector to display up to a 100 inch display from less than 4 feet away. The projector is light weight, which makes it ideal for ceiling mounting to help keep the projector light out of the eyes of the presenter. Hitachi digital presentations solutions division product manager Bill Christoforou said, ‘Short throw projectors are ideal in smaller rooms where space is limited but a large screen size is required.’ The CP-D10 is available through Hitachi as well as certified retailers and the MSRP is RRP $2145 ($1961).

CineVERSUM Releases 2.35 Cinemax Pro Lens Kit

CineVERSUM is known for high-end home theater projectors and products. Today, the company announced that their latest projector, the BlackWing One will have a new lens attachment available. The 2.35 Cinemax Pro kit is an updated version of the older 2.35 Cinemax Option kit. The Pro kit includes a high-precision spherical anamorphic lens that provides full screen displays. Anamorphic lenses are very popular in home theaters because they stretch the image from its normal size to the size of the entire screen. This eliminates the black bars that are found above and below the display when you watch a widescreen version of a movie. Another major feature about the Cinemax Pro kit is that it is easy to install onto the BlackWing One and it doesn’t have any moving parts or require any additional electricity to use. The 2.35 Cinemax Pro kit is already available through CineVERSUM. However the retail price has not been released.

Allcam Releases 2-in-1 CP1 Projector

Are you tired of carrying around a clunky laptop? Well this new pico projector might be the answer. Today, Allcam announced the release of their first projector, the CP1. What makes this model special is that it is also a handheld computer that uses the projector as the display screen. The CP1 features VGA (640 x 480) resolution and only 10 ANSI lumens. It uses LCoS display technology with an older white LED lamp system. The only connections available are dual mini USB connections; one for a host and another to connect to the main PC. The CP1 will not outperform any laptop you currently have, but it’s a nice alternative for anyone who can’t or doesn’t carry one with them to meetings. To control the computer, Allcam has included a mouse touch pad and buttons on top instead of the keypad that is typically found on pico projectors. Other major features include a 64MB internal memory with another possible 4GB from an SD card, 4 hour battery life, and built in speakers. Allcam has released the CP1 through Amazon for a retail price of £194 ($288).

Christie is the leader in digital cinema projection technologies. Today, the company is debuting their next generation of digital cinema projectors, the Solaria Series. This group of projectors will replace the old CP series that have been popular with theaters worldwide. The new series includes three new models the CP2210, CP2220, and CP2230. All of these range in brightness between 15000 and 30000 ANSI lumens, depending on what lamp you choose. They also feature a 2000:1 contrast ratio, DLP display technology and a 2K HD (2048 x 1080) resolution, but the CP2230 come with a native 4K HD (4096 x 2160) resolution. Christie also plans to add two more projectors to the series, the CP4220 and CP4230, but no information about these models has been released yet. ‘Christie is committed to supporting its customers today and in the future. That’s the primary driver behind our 2K and 4K-ready solutions,’ remarked Craig Sholder, vice president, Entertainment Solutions at Christie. ‘We’ve expanded our line-up of industry-preferred digital cinema solutions to provide the most flexibility for exhibitors—offering them the ultimate freedom to choose from the widest range of 2K or 4K resolution projectors, as well as providing them with the choice of either an external or integrated media block. Sony Announces SRX-R320 Projector

Sony is one of the major companies that provide digital cinema projectors. Today, the company is proud to announce their latest model, the SRX-R320. This projector features a 2000:1 contrast ratio, 18000 ANSI lumens, and a 4 K HD (4096 x 2160) resolution. This impressive display is 4 times the pixels than full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution. The biggest advancement with the R320 is the usage of the LMT-300 Media Block, which is designed to enhance the resolution and contrast of the image. ‘Since we introduced our first 4K projection system 5 years ago, Sony has advanced the technology to meet the continually evolving requirements for digital exhibition,’ said Gary Johns, vice president of Sony Electronics’ Digital Cinema Systems Division. ‘This newest version continues that tradition and illustrates why exhibitors of all sizes are making Sony 4K technology their projection choice.
