Projectors are starting to become very popular with the average consumer, and this particular one is low-priced and just what the average consumer needs.

After all, most consumers just want a way to view their personal DVDs and home movies on a bigger screen. The Sharper Image Entertainment Projector for Movies and Video Games is perfect for this. All that is required of the user is to hook the Projector to a DVD player or gaming station via included cable, and plug it in with the included AC cord.

According to the site, it is best viewed from six feet away. I had a chance to try it out for myself. I held it back more than six feet away from a blank wall, and I was able to get a pretty decent image.

The Projector also has a terrific handle that doubles as a stand for it. The Projector easily pivots, and it is possible for the user to adjust it so it is projected on the ceiling. It even comes with a remote control for power, volume, contrast, and color.

Granted, I wish this Projector could easily connect to an average computer without having to purchase special adapters, such as the 3M MPro 120. I guess you can’t have it both ways. At least the sound is considerably better than the aforementioned projector.

You should be able to purchase the Sharper Image Entertainment Projector from the Sharper Image site for about $129.99. It won’t be available until November 12th, though.

NEC does deal with a plethora of projectors, and to date they have built up quite an impressive portfolio of performers. This time round, the Japanese company is back with a new NP610 entry-level installation projector that was specially designed to target users who require incredible image quality with advanced capabilities without having to break the bank while not compromising on performance and features. More specifically, the NEC NP610 will target users at the university level, but the buck does not stop there since it will fare equally well in corporate environments, being the perfect companion for areas such as training rooms, lecture halls and conference rooms.

According to Rich McPherson, Product Manager for projectors at NEC Display Solutions, ‘The NP610 is an ideal entry-level installation projector that offers all the features our customers need to succeed in connecting with their audience. From increased brightness and color-enhancing technologies to environmentally-favorable specifications, this projector meets the standard criteria required for integration projectors.’

You may have heard about Ray Displays back in August when they announced their new Ray pico projector. Today, the company is proud to announce the release of this device. The Ray features 10 ANSI lumens, VGA (640 x 480) resolution, and the latest in LCoS display technology. Just like all the other pico projectors, the Ray uses LED display technology and can last for up to 20000 hours, which is probably longer than the projector itself will last. ‘The personal or pico projector market is very exciting and rapidly gaining consumer interest. We created Ray to offer people not only the best technology, but the ability to afford an amazing projector,’ said Jerry Rogers, CEO of Ray Displays. ‘You can now transform private viewing into a shared experience.’ The company claims that the projector can connect with a variety of external devices including Smart phones, digital camera, DVD player, and more. But the company has also not released the projector’s connection ports. Ray Display is currently available through their website for the retail price of $229.

It seems like everywhere you look there is a new pico projector being released. To start this week, a new company called Relaxsee has announced that the release of their latest creation, the LV-VB03. This pico projector is specifically designed to be used with computers and features 10 ANSI lumens, a 100:1 contrast ratio, and VGA (640 x 480) resolution. The only connections available are two USB ports, one for power and one for receiving content. The VB03 does come with in internal memory of 128Mb and it does have an internal batter, although the company did not say how long the charge is. The VB03 is compatible with Windows operating systems and can support Windows XP, 2000, and Vista. Relaxsee is currently selling this projector for only $300.

NEC today announced a new entry-level installation projector called the NP610. Designed specifically for large conference rooms or lecture halls, this projector provides a native resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels, 500:1 contrast ratio, 3500 ANSI lumens brightness, up to 5000 hours of lamp life (in ECO Mode) and consumes 312W power in normal mode or 237W power in ECO mode. It also comes with a 7W speaker and several connectivity ports including S-video, DVI-I with HDCP, 15-pin, RCA and VGA. The NEC NP610 will go on sale in November for an estimated street price of $1,499.

Adapt is back with a brand new pico projector, the ADPP-305. This projector is about the size of a cell phone and features LCoS display technology, SVGA (800 x 600) resolution, and 45 ANSI lumens. The extra brightness is a big improvement compared to other pico projectors that usually range between 7 and 15 lumens. The 305 is also capable of displaying up to a 100-inch display from only 11 feet away. The projector does have an internal battery for travel purposes and even comes with a 4GB memory and a MicroSD card slot for ‘PC-Free’ presentations. If you choose not to use the memory, there is also an AV jack that can support composite and VGA connections. Unfortunately this projector is only available in Europe right now and retails for £349 ($571).
